Arenal Volcano in Costa Rica

Arenal Volcano

Arenal has laid dormant until July 29 in 1968 when an earthquake shook the area and 12 hours later the volcano blew out. If you have never seen an active volcano, Arenal could be a spectacular first time. This 1633 mts volcano rises majestically out of the lush pastures and forest on the eastern end of Arenal Lake.

Intermittent explosions draw people by day and night, although nighttime is the best time to observe red-hot molten lava enveloping the top of the cone.

Even when overcast the rumblings, venting and molten lava glowing through the clouds offer a very special experience. All this at Baldi Hot Springs Resort where you will enjoy a Buffet Style Dinner after trying the different pools and waterfalls.
